Flashback Friday: INXS

I've been listening to a lot of INXS lately, so I thought this Flashback Friday should be dedicated to my all time favorite INXS song ever, "Elegantly Wasted." Enjoy!

Concert Review: A Silent Film

Let's try this again, shall we? I'm determined to pay more attention this the blog. So, what better way to kick things off than with a concert review?

This past Friday, April 13th (yes Friday the 13th), I went to see A Silent Film at a bar with my best friend (if you don't know who A Silent Film is, look them up. Now). We've seen them twice before, but they have a new album coming out on June 6th, and we were looking forward to hearing some new songs. We were not disappointed. They played a few songs off of their previous album, The City That Sleeps, but the majority of the songs are off their new album, Sand & Snow.

Some of the "new" songs included "Reaching the Potential," "The Stage is Your Life," and "Let Them Feel Your Heartbeat;" which have been included in their setlists for over a year now. All of them were amazing, especially "...Heartbeat" which is probably one of my favorite A Silent Film songs of all time. I was glad to hear them, as that means they are, most likely, going to be included on the new album!!

They did play several new songs that I was not familiar with. These included "Anastasia," "Cuckoo Song," "Thousand Mile Race," and "Queen of a Sad Land." There may have been one or two more new songs played, but I cannot recall that this time. All of the new songs sounded amazing, and I cannot wait to hear what they sound like on the album. My personal favorites are "Cuckoo Song" and "Anastasia" but, like I said, they are all brilliant in their own ways.

Of course, the show wouldn't be complete without a few songs from their first album. I was expecting them to play more, but was pleasantly surprised that the focus was on the new songs. The few songs that they played from The City... included "Driven By Their Beating Hearts," "You Will Leave A Mark," and "Firefly At My Window." They closed their set with "Firefly At My Window," my absolute favorite song of theirs. I was getting worried that it would be pushed to the wayside; thank goodness I was wrong!

I do with that their set had been a bit longer, but I am happy with the quality of the music they played. I loved hearing the older songs I fell in love with, and getting to hear some of the newer songs that I had not heard before. I really hope that I get to see them again soon. A year between shows is just too much!
